“Na poesia não se trata de fazer muito, trata-se de fazer intenso, numa propensão absoluta, como se o poema pudesse terminar com o mundo.” Valter Hugo Mãe
About
Cordel Literature is a popular literary genre in Brazil with Portuguese origins. It appears in the form of short oral poems, later appearing in booklets where the printed poems are accompanied by engravings. Traditionally posted on cordels and sold in markets by the authors themselves, nowadays they can also be found for sale in cultural centers, cultural fairs or bookstores. The authors recite verses in a melodious and rhythmic way, sometimes resorting to more enthusiastic readings, in order to win over potential buyers. The themes range from everyday facts, historical episodes, legends, among others, and there is no limit to the creation of new themes. This is a poetry of fellowship and social criticism that reaches a wide range of sensibilities among its listeners and readers.
Synopsis
Saying to someone – place the diabolo on the ground, make it spin from one side to the other, as soon as it passes in front of you, pick it up and make a small, quick movement like this, up and down, with your dominant hand, only your dominant hand (the other is present without force) – is like a nursery rhyme that echoes involuntarily in your head, without, often, assailing your conscience of the relevance that this set of simple gestures can acquire. If the most basic principles of the diabolo can influence the course of a life, I can only imagine what a few right words at the right moment can do. Perhaps there is something profoundly poetic in both. Perhaps these worlds touch.
Are there any poets in the room? Are you more into poetry or anti-poetry? Do you think there are words that are definitive? What word do you bring with you today? Do you like to play with words? What is a poetic gesture for you? 1 Pamphlet, 1 Euro.
