About
Cordel Literature is a popular literary genre in Brazil with Portuguese origins. It appears in the form of short oral poems, later appearing in booklets where the printed poems are accompanied by engravings. Traditionally posted on cordels and sold in markets by the authors themselves, nowadays they can also be found for sale in cultural centers, cultural fairs or bookstores. The authors recite verses in a melodious and rhythmic way, sometimes resorting to more enthusiastic readings, in order to win over potential buyers. The themes range from everyday facts, historical episodes, legends, among others, and there is no limit to the creation of new themes. This is a poetry of fellowship and social criticism that reaches a wide range of sensibilities among its listeners and readers.
Synopsis
Dizer a alguém – coloca o diábolo no chão, fá-lo girar dum lado até ao outro, assim que ele passa à tua frente levanta-o e faz um movimento assim, pequeno e rápido, para cima e para baixo, com a tua mão dominante, apenas a tua mão dominante (a outra está presente sem força) – é como uma lengalenga que ecoa involuntariamente na cabeça, sem que, muitas vezes, assalte à consciência a relevância que pode adquirir este conjunto de gestos simples. Se os princípios mais básicos do diábolo podem influenciar o rumo duma vida, imagino o que podem fazer umas palavras certas num momento certo. Talvez haja algo de profundamente poético em ambos. Talvez estes mundos se toquem.
